How to change waste cartridges in Versalink C405?
Before you begin, make sure your Xerox printer is switched off. Now you can open the side panel on the right side of the printer. You should see an orange-coloured lever inside. Twist this orange lever to unlock the waste cartridge. Next, pull out the waste cartridge carefully to avoid any toner spillage.
Now you can remove your new Xerox C405 toner cartridge from its packaging. Hold this new cartridge against the printer lining it up and then firmly push it into place. Use the orange lever again to lock-up the new waste cartridge. Finally, close the side-panel gently. Your Xerox Versalink Printer is now ready to print!
How to replace Xerox C405 drum unit?
You will need to purchase a Xerox Versalink C405 drum cartridge kit from us to replace the unit.
To replace the drum unit on a Xerox C405 printer, you must first open the side panel on the right side of the printer. Then remove your waste toner cartridge by using the orange-coloured lever (see instructions above). Now you should see all four drum units inside the printer.
Next, pull one of the drum units straight out to remove it. Please remember never to touch the actual drum cartridge with your hands. Now remove the packaging from your new Xerox C405 drum cartridge kit and slide the unit into place inside the printer.
Finally, replace the waste toner cartridge on top. Secure it in place using the orange lever and then close the side panel. You are now ready to start printing.
What is the yield for a C405 Cartridge?
The yield is approximately 2,500 pages on typical Versalink C405 cartridges. While the Versalink C405 Extra high capacity Toner cartridge has a yield of between 8,000 to 10,500 pages.
In addition to the above yield rates, a standard original Xerox C405 black toner has a yield of 2,500 pages per cartridge.
How to view toner level on Xerox C405?
To check toner levels on your Xerox C405 printer, you will need to use the configuration report option on the printer’s menu to locate the printer’s IP address. This can be accessed by pressing the ‘Home’ button. Then select ‘Device’ from the menu. From the list of options find and select, “About”. Here you can find important information about your Xerox printer, such as its’s IP address and serial number.
Note down your IP address and access this via any browser on your computer. This will allow you to access the Versalink printer embedded web server page. Once the page loads, you should easily see the remaining toner levels for each of the colours, such as cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Along with information on your current print impressions.
My Xerox Versalink C405 keeps giving an error - What should I do?
First of all, make sure you have installed the toner cartridge correctly. To double-check this, you can gently push on the C405 cartridge to make sure that it is securely in place. If you still get an error relating to your toner, then your next best bet is to remove the toner carefully. Once removed, shake it gently and then replace it. This normally does the trick.

How do I change the toner on my Versalink C405?
To replace toner cartridges on your Versalink C405 printer, you need to open the printer’s front door. Then slide out the toner cartridge that you want to replace, gently. Next, remove the packaging from your new C405 cartridge and slide it into the printer. Make sure you click it in to place firmly and then you can close the front door. And that’s it, you’re ready to print!
How do I empty my Xerox C405 waste cartridge?
To empty your Xerox C405 waste cartridge, you need to open the side panel on the right side of your printer. Then twist the orange lever to unlock the waste cartridge. Pull the cartridge out.
Now find yourself a plastic bag. Turn the waste cartridge over carefully and use some pliers to remove the white plug under it. Now empty the contents of it into the plastic bag. Please avoid shaking the cartridge around, as this could create a messy cloud of toner powder everywhere.
Gently keep shaking, until all the contents of the waste container are in the plastic bag. Now let the cartridge rest for a minute, so all the dust settles down. Then re-insert the white plug. You might need some tape to keep the cap in place.
Finally, you can gently clean the little plastic sensor window on the waste cartridge. Cleaning the plastic sensor window is important to get an accurate toner level reading on your printer. Then re-insert the waste cartridge into the printer.
